Appearance: Lantzer is slightly larger than average for a meerkat, and he was the fittest among his siblings. His coat is unkempt looking, bristly, puffed outwards (though not straight out). It’s the one feature about himself that he despises, as it makes him look a lot more comedic than he’d like (at least in his own mind). Lantzer has deep wells for eyes, nearly black, though they’re actually a deep brown. His features are hardened, and seemingly to compliment this is a scar that runs down his backside, concealed mostly by the reddish, almost rust colored streaks he has. Fur is the typical light tan with the aforementioned streaks, there being three of them; a large, splotchy one in the center, and more graceful tapering ones to the left and right close to the flanks. Teeth and claws are pretty average, though he likes to keep them sharp not only for digging, but combat as well. A strong, rugged appearance that betrays little but may hide a more sensitive side…
Personality: Stern features would make many kats wonder and speculate about Lantzer. He certainly tries to exude the cool and confident air of a leader, or perhaps a battle hardened veteran. He’s normally very introverted, believing that actions speak louder than words. Despite having come from a self-reliant background, he can be fiercely loyal, willing to ensure the safety of others before himself if they’ve earned his respect. He has a complete respect for females however, and hence has had his eyes on the Rahntai Clan for some time. He is perfectly at ease following the orders of a female Alpha, and in fact, Morgandy in particular has caught his eye. He considers himself weak for becoming attracted to her, but has since been unable to do anything about it. He likes to try to keep the Alpha female out of his thoughts, but that’s proven to be easier said than done.
History: Lantzer was born in a clan far from the island, one built around strong self-reliance and a perseverant attitude. Surviving was harsh, as the clan was forced to migrate from location to location, their sources of food dying out due to a spreading pestilence that killed off the local insect populations and causing widespread relocations by severely upsetting the food chain. As the clan moved, their predators would be forced to follow and so on. Lantzer was his father’s favorite progeny, and was originally slated to become the Alpha, but the second born, Lagore, lived in constant jealousy of his older, more favored, and fit sibling. When their father passed away, Lagore issued an open challenge to Lantzer, and a major internal rift was expected. Before the battle could start however, Lantzer quite unexpectedly submitted to Lagore, and ceded the fight before it had even begun. Lantzer realized that even if had won, Lagore has a sizable group under his sway in their clan, and an internal conflict was not something the clan needed with their present lifestyle. It would destroy them, and Lantzer knew his father never would have wanted to see that. His brother marked him down his backside, the source of the scar, and also a mark of his exile, which Lantzer had no choice but to pass into. He wandered about, bitter and angry at what had transpired, and finally came across the island of the four clans, and encountered the Rahntai first. He watched it from afar, small though it was. The Alpha female in particular, Morgandy, was of interest to him. Because of the sourness he felt over the inner male squabble within his clan, he was purposely seeking out a clan governed by a female, but he never expected once to have become attracted to Morgandy. He considers it a sort of hindrance, as all he wants is to approach her about joining the clan and serving under her direction, but realizes that his feelings could complicate things. First off he wants to seek a subordinate position under her, and is afraid that his feelings will only get in the way, and second, a sort of subconscious desire exists within him to come off as independent and not reliant on others, and therefore, despite his attraction to Morgandy, he sees it as a sort odd weakness. Now that enough time has passed however, he knows he can no longer obfuscate. With nowhere else to go, and feeling the Rahntai to be the best fit for him, he’ll have to make his move, and plans to attempt to join soon…..
